White Ginger (Hedychium coronarium), also known as Butterfly Ginger or White Ginger Lily, is a tropical-looking perennial grown for its lush green foliage and wonderfully fragrant white flowers. Grown with care at Sweet Martha’s Family Farmacy in Alabama, these plants are propagated through divisions from established White Ginger growing here at the Farmacy.
The plants offered in this listing trace back to my strong three-year-old mother plant. I divided a second plant from her about two years ago, and the current plants were propagated from healthy divisions of that established growth—continuing the same plant line here at the Farmacy.
Why Grow White Ginger?
White Ginger brings height, lush foliage, and fragrance to the garden. Once established, it can return year after year in suitable warm climates, developing into a fuller planting over time. Its fragrant white flowers add late-season interest, while division makes it possible to continue expanding an established planting as it grows.
