Every ancestor has a story. Some stories have been passed down through generations, while others are waiting to be discovered through historical records, family memories, and the clues our ancestors left behind.
My Ancestor Deep Dive is a focused genealogy research service dedicated to investigating one individual in your family tree.
Using the information you provide as a starting point, I'll explore available historical records to help piece together your ancestor's life, family relationships, places they lived, and documented history.
Why Choose This Service?
Sometimes knowing an ancestor's name isn't enough. You want to know more about the person behind that name.
Where did they live? Who were their parents? Who did they marry? What can historical records tell us about their lives?
This service goes beyond a single research question by examining multiple available sources to develop a more complete picture of one ancestor.
Whether you're researching someone whose story has been passed down through generations or an ancestor you've only recently discovered, my goal is to help you better understand their documented history.
What's Included
Your $150 Ancestor Deep Dive includes:
- Focused genealogy research on one individual ancestor.
- Review and analysis of multiple available historical record types when appropriate.
- A written summary of research findings.
- A timeline of significant events in your ancestor's life when sufficient information is available.
- Information about documented family relationships.
- Source citations and supporting record information.
- Copies or links to located records when available.
- Identification of conflicting, uncertain, or incomplete information.
- Recommendations for additional research.
Depending on your ancestor's time period, location, and record availability, research may include census records, birth and death records, marriage records, newspapers, city directories, military records, cemetery and burial records, probate and property records, and other relevant historical sources.
Who Is This Service For?
This service is ideal for:
- Individuals who want to learn more about a particular ancestor.
- Families preserving stories and information for future generations.
- People researching African American and Southern family history.
- Family historians who have identified an ancestor but need help investigating their life.

If you're interested in researching multiple generations or building an extensive family tree, a broader research service may be more appropriate.
How the Process Works
1. Purchase Your Research Service
Select Ancestor Deep Dive and provide a current email address at checkout.
2. Complete Your Intake Form
After your purchase, I will personally email you a link to my Genealogy Research Client Intake Form.
You'll be asked to provide as much information as you know about your ancestor, including names, dates, locations, known relatives, existing records, photographs, and family stories.
3. Research Begins
Once I receive your completed intake form and any requested supporting information, I'll begin researching your ancestor.
I'll investigate relevant available historical sources, evaluate the evidence, and document my findings. Research time may vary depending on record availability and the complexity of the investigation.
4. Receive Your Research Findings
You'll receive a written research summary, supporting source information, and recommendations for further investigation when appropriate.
This service focuses on one ancestor. Research extending substantially into additional generations, unrelated family lines, or a broader family-tree project is outside the purchased scope.
No additional research will be performed or billed without your approval.
From My Family History Desk
I've spent more than 30 years researching, documenting, and preserving family history, including my own family's deep roots in Gee's Bend and Alabama's Black Belt.
For me, genealogy has never been just about collecting names and dates. It's about understanding the people who came before us, the lives they lived, and the stories that deserve to be remembered.
As a descendant of the families I've spent decades researching, I know how meaningful it can be to discover another piece of an ancestor's story.
I bring that same dedication and respect to the family histories entrusted to me.
Researcher's Note
Our ancestors were more than names on a census page or dates carved into a headstone. They were people with families, experiences, struggles, accomplishments, and stories worth preserving.
Historical records don't always tell us everything. Some are incomplete, inaccurate, contradictory, or simply no longer available.
Your purchase covers the research, analysis, and documentation involved in investigating your ancestor. A particular record, relationship, or discovery cannot be guaranteed.
My commitment is to distinguish documented facts from possible connections and unanswered questions.
Every ancestor deserves to be remembered, and every family deserves the opportunity to tell its own story.
