🌿 From Junk to Joy: Reclaiming Roots & Growing Grace at Sweet Martha’s Family Farmacy

Hey y’all, it’s been a minute.

I took a couple years off from blogging, and let me tell you—life didn’t pause while I did. I’ve been learning, unlearning, and relearning what it means to build something meaningful from the ground up. Literally.

Since my last post, I’ve learned to give myself grace. Turns out, perfection is overrated—and impossible. My website doesn’t need to be flawless, and neither do I. Sweet Martha’s Family Farmacy is a living, breathing space rooted in legacy, not polish. I’ve learned to be patient with the process, to trust that everything—every detour, delay, and disaster—happens for me, not to me.

And speaking of disasters… let’s talk about my uncle, annoyingly known as Fred Sanford Jr. Jr. If you know, you know. I had to clean this house and this yard twice just to make space for the Farmacy. He brought home everything but the kitchen sink—and maybe even that once. But what looked like junk became the bones of a working herb farm. I turned chaos into compost, clutter into cultivation.

This blog is my way of reconnecting—with you, with my roots, and with the plants that keep our stories alive. I’m thrilled to reintroduce my new Herb of the Month series, where I’ll spotlight one healing herb at a time, sharing its magic, its medicine, and its meaning in my family’s tradition.

Because this isn’t just about plants. It’s about people. My family history runs deep here in Alabama and every leaf I grow carries a story. From my grandparents’ house—now the heart of the Farmacy—I’m weaving together Southern tradition, Gee’s Bend wisdom, and a whole lot of love.

I had to start over after being permanently banned from Etsy (who knew a little plant magic could get you in trouble for “medical claims”?). But I’m back. Back in the garden. Back in the house that raised me. Back in the rhythm of storytelling and healing.

So welcome (or welcome back) to Sweet Martha’s Family Farmacy. Pull up a chair, grab a cup of tea, and let’s grow something beautiful together.
